Another NBX install

We started another NBX install on Friday Octobber 20, 2006.
Everything went good. There is another day of clean up work to do and everything should be finished for the customer to go live on Friday October 27, 2006.
For more information on the NBX visit our website www.cim-solutions.com/voip.

Looked at some problems with a customers Toshiba laptop at the end of the day. There seems to be a problem with the motherboard and a PCI device. If all of the devices are enabled in Windows XP then the OS just stops loading about half way through the boot up process. After we disabled any extra PCI devices that the customer does not need then the laptop will boot.

Problems with the Big Apple in Cobourg

On Sunday October 8, 2006 we stopped in at the Big Apple on Highway 401 in Cobourg to purchase some of their home made apple pies. We purchased 2 of them. One for Thanksgiving dinner at my wife's fathers place for dinner and the other one for us to eat at our house. On Tuesday evening after dinner I decided to cut into our pie and have a piece and see how good these famous pies were. Well right there on my piece of pie was a huge spot of mold. This completely grossed us out. I called the Big Apple immediately and got no answer so I left a message. I have heard nothing back from them. I took pictures of the piece of pie and the pie and then ended up throwing the whole pie in the garbage.

I will give the Big Apple another call in a couple of days, but this is very poor customer service.
The pie was 2 days old and we had just opened the box.

Another 3Com NBX V3000 Install

We did another V3000 install on October 13, 2006. Yes, Friday the 13th. Everything went well. One additional thing to note, (since I forgot about it) when you are doing an install with a phone and a reception console, you will need 2 network runs. This installation only had 1 so we have to return on Monday with a small switch so we can run the phone, console and a computer.
The V3000 is an amazing system. The staff at the company were so excited, within minutes of us bringing the phone system up they were on the phones talking to each other at the different buildings. They were so happy. It had been months since they had talked to people at their other office without having to dial a seperate phone number. They are so happy to be replacing their Nortel CICS.
The new features in the R6 of the V3000 are amazing. We will be doing an internal test on our bench system with a unit in SIP mode, but I do not think we will be deploying one in SIP mode until next year when 3Com release R7. There are too many features missing when you turn on SIP for a company do deploy it. If we get a customer with more then 2 offices with a bunch of people at each then maybe we would go SIP. Then it would make sense to have the centralized voicemail and management.
